• Are your services covered by OHIP?

    Assessment and therapy services are not covered by OHIP. However, most extended heath care plans will cover a portion of the cost of services. Your insurer will be able to inform you of your coverage for services and whether a referral from your family doctor is required.

  • Do you submit direct billing to Medavie Blue Cross?

    Yes, our therapists are registered as Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), and Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Medavie Blue Cross providers. We submit direct billing to Medavie Blue Cross. Eligible VAC, CAF, and RCMP members do not provide payment to ARC Psychology for services, and therefore, do not have to submit receipts to Blue Cross for reimbursement. The Department of National Defence (DND) covers services for eligible currently serving CAF members and VAC covers services for eligible veterans and RCMP members.

  • Do you submit direct billing to Green Shield Canada?

    Yes, our therapists are registered as Green Shield Canada (GSC) providers. We submit direct billing to Green Shield Canada. Eligible GSC members do not provide payment to ARC Psychology for services, and therefore, do not have to submit receipts to GSC for reimbursement. Green Shield will be able to inform you of your coverage for services and whether a referral from your family doctor is required.

  • Do you prescribe medication?

    No, our therapists do not prescribe medication. Psychologists have a Ph.D. degree and tend to focus on assessment, therapy, consultation, and research. Psychiatrists have a M.D. degree and tend to focus on prescribing psychiatric medication.

  • What happens during the first therapy appointment?

    During the first appointment, the therapist will focus on gaining an understanding of who you are, your current difficulties, and what you would like to work on in therapy. The first session sets the foundation to work collaboratively with your therapist to achieve symptom relief. Please allow 60 minutes for your first appointment.

  • How long will therapy take?

    It is difficult to assess how long therapy will take until you have met with your therapist and you agree on what you would like to work on in therapy. The number of therapy sessions varies from person to person. We provide both short-term and long-term therapy to meet your treatment needs.
